I’m not a believer that you have to spend a ton of money to look good. There’s no doubt that most $500 sweaters are going to hold up better than a $40 sweater from J.C. Penney. And a $5,000 watch is going to outlast, and maybe even increase in value, better then the $138 watch I show here. But if you’re like me, I don’t have $5,000 to spend on a watch, nor can I afford to spend $500 on a sweater. So what I’m forced to do, as are a lot of men, I find cheaper alternatives that still look great.
Take the blackjack watch from Todd Snyder. It’s part of a collaboration by Timex and Todd Snyder New York. I think it’s pretty cool.
The blackjack is a homage to the style forward drivers of Formula One, with a nod to speed dials and roulette wheels of mid-century Monaco casinos, and an updated look with a black finished case and a nylon strap.
It has a cool retro look that stands out as a fashion statement in our time of mobile phones where people don’t have to wear a watch to find out the time. In other words, why wear a watch other than for a fashion statement? So make it something cool.
The watch also features a quartz movement and is water resistant to 50 meters.
I’m also a big fan of their mod watch seen above. It’s also available in olive. Really like the white face with a bullseye. Great conversation starter.
